Book on internet feminisms: Call For Submissions!

fuckyeahpilfs:

Hi Followers!

We moderators of PILFs currently have an awesome opportunity to organize and publish editions of soft-cover books that will be shared around the world, from Boston to Bordeaux, France and many cities in-between. One of the books we are hoping to organize is an anthology of writing based on the intersection of technology and the many facets of feminism, particularly the nu-internet feminisms and dialogues that have sprouted up around and between different feminist schools of thought.

We would LOVE to hear from our followers and would like to obviously cover a wide variety of feminisms. Which can include, but are not limited to: POC, radical, riot-girl, butch, femme, fat, pop, anarcho, body-positive, sex-positive, allies, differently-abled,  queer, trans, genderfluid, and even those who do not or no longer identify fully with the term ‘feminist’.

Submission guidelines:

We would like essays (if you are writing or submitting a response to another article or story, please also submit that article or story alongside your response, unedited by you.), narratives, memoirs, non-fiction, and anything you have already written and published be it on tumblr or elsewhere is also welcome.

We will allow people to submit anonymously if they so choose, though we would love to print your names, bio, and/or photo alongside your article.

We are NOT looking for poems or anything academic, just personal experiences and opinions.

**WE WILL NOT BE DOING ANY EDITING OF ANY SORT SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME ONE PROOFREAD FOR ANY ERRORS** We decided to not edit anyone’s writings in any way because as two cis white females who are in an editorial role we don’t feel its our place to edit other people’s personal experiences and stories, especially as it is so important to us to represent them as much from the writers’ perspective as possible, all grammar and spelling errors will be printed as is.

Submission due date is February 28th 2012 and should be submitted to internetfeminisms@gmail.com

About
There are a million websites dedicated to archiving images that objectify women- reduce them to living fuck-dolls- devalue them as humans- make it appear as though sex is an act of conquering a woman, penetrating her, owning her, essentially erasing her.

Am I not allowed to be sexual? Am I not allowed to be openly sexual? Am I not allowed to express what I find sexually appealing?

Is it too much to imagine that I might enjoy sex? That I might want it?

Is it too threatening to imagine that not only do I have a vagina, but that I might want to put it to use someday?

Or is it easier for people to think that I, as a female, am only unwillingly sexual when a male chooses to dominate/coerce me into sex?

Sexual violence isn’t just a physical action. The assumption that my sexuality can only come alive under the touch of a male is also a form of violence because it takes the power and control of my sexual identity away from me.
